30 Days to Understanding the Bible – Angels
Angels, demons, satan, and evil, oh my!
The Bible teaches that God uses a numberless army of angels to help execute His will in heaven and earth and that among their duties is ministering to Christians. Perhaps, this is where the concept of guardian angels comes from. Angels are personal beings, spirits from God, created before Adam and Eve. I do not believe angels are ghosts of people who have died.
Because if they were created before humans, how could they become ghosts and represent our favorite aunt or parent after death?
There is a lot of discussion around the topic of angels. I prefer to look to the Bible for the answers. I realize the Bible doesn’t address every single thing we see in society today (i.e., Snapchat, the internet, or Amazon.) That’s where faith comes in.
The Bible has plenty to say about spiritual beings. Who are they? Where do they come from? What role do they play in humanity?
Our session will go into a discussion about satan. Satan has been around since the beginning of humanity, appearing in the Garden of Eden as a serpent.
Other names for satan – deceiver, the enemy of God, beast, devil, adversary, father of lies
1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
