How Do You Climb Mountains?

How Do You Climb Mountains?

How do you climb mountains? One step at a time, I’ve always heard. That’s easier said than done. I remember too well climbing Blood Mountain years ago. The part that sticks out most in my mind was how cold it was. As we climbed higher and higher, the chill turned colder and colder. As we made our way along the switchbacks, there were times when making the turns; the wind would practically blow us over. It was so cold. By the time you reached the top, you were a popsicle, but oh, the feeling of standing there in the wide open with nothing around you, but the sky was exhilarating. Suddenly you weren’t as cold anymore.

How does that relate to God?

The climb to a loving God is in no way cold. In fact, the closer we get to God, the better it feels. The warmer it gets until you are all cute and snuggly in a warm blanket. Getting closer to God is like a fresh spring day, like a newborn baby, like the flowers that have opened up after being closed off for days. Getting closer to God is like climbing that mountain, only when you reach the top, of the magnificent wonders before your eyes and the feeling of love that surrounds you are unlike anything you have ever known.

I always tell people the closer you get to God, the sweeter the taste. Oh to enjoy that taste, to enjoy the view, to enjoy the warmth of his loving arms around you, well folks I have to tell you there’s nothing else like it in this world. Nothing!

I have experienced things that I know were nothing else but God. I have watched God work in many people’s lives, and it is a fantastic view to behold. I’ve come a long way in ten years, and I wouldn’t trade a single day or go back to my old life for nothing. I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and SO thankful! I’m in love!

How did I get to this place in my life? By taking that mountain one step at a time and walking towards the Father one step at a time every day. It’s been well worth the climb.

Father, thank you for being with me every step of the way. I am overwhelmed by your grace for me. Lord, there may be some who don’t have any idea what I mean by all this. Father, I pray you would do a mighty work in their lives. I pray you would make your presence known to them. I pray Lord, they would recognize your awesomeness and your glory. Oh Lord, I would be nothing without you! To you be the glory forever and ever, Amen.
