How’s your day going so far? Perhaps you just rolled out of bed. Maybe you have been up since the crack of sunlight. Whatever the case may be, may it be a glorious day with the Son shining down on you.
Folks, I am going back to the fruit of the Spirit for some more teaching. There’s so much to be gleaned from these passages. It’s not often we can glean from fruit. It usually takes a lot of fruit to make one little glass of juice. I know, I’m stretching it, aren’t I? You remember, though, don’t you?
Think about this for a minute. God sent us the law. He is also the same God who sent us the Spirit. You say, yah so. What’s the big deal?
Think about this.
Do you realize that the two work in harmony with each other? If I’m peaceful and patient, I am not breaking any laws? I am not angry, full of hatred or discord. If I exhibit the Spirit, I have a much better chance of fulfilling the law. If I don’t, I have a greater chance of breaking the laws, of desiring to do the wrong things.
Here’s something else to think about. When I break the law, it usually costs me money, relationships, other things, or people who are valuable to me. If I allow the fruit of the Spirit to fill me, I enjoy love, peace with others, joy, happiness, etc. These things do not stress me out. I don’t have to worry about looking behind me. My focus can be on things that produce that fruit. Producing fruit is what Jesus wants me to do.
So, what’s the next step in this equation? That, my friends, you will have to find out tomorrow. In the meantime, someone lead us in prayer. Ok, lead yourselves.
Father, may everyone seek the fruit of the Spirit today. It is exciting to know there are no laws against joy, peace, love, happiness, and the like. As the song says, “you ain’t gonna steal my joy, devil!” May we desire to be more like your Son, Jesus Christ. In His name, I pray all these things, Amen.
In His Service
