Poetry Books are our subject for today. The Bible contains some of the most moving poetry of any I have ever read. The Psalms are comforting, realistic, and moving. The Proverbs are full of wisdom. Songs of Solomon, also known as Song of Songs is all about love. Job is a unique and fascinating book, or both having it all to having nothing. Ecclesiastes offers the meaning of life after reflecting on a long life with many experiences, both good and bad.
What is the longest book in the Bible?
The book of Psalm is 150 chapters. The longest chapter in the Bible is Psalm 119. The shortest chapter is 117. I find it fascinating that in between these two chapters, lie Psalm 118:8, that says, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.”
What I have learned over the years after reading the poetry books in the Bible, is that these poetry books do not read like Dr. Seuss books. Every line doesn’t have to rhyme. The words can be just as profound as your well-known favorite poet. The poetry books in the Bible are God-inspired Scriptures written down to help you and me. Poetry books in the Bible express some of the most profound thoughts and feelings of man and his love for Almighty God.
