This morning I awoke at 4:20am to this thought:
“God Bless America”
I’ve listened to presidents, congressional members, judicial members and council members all say “God Bless America” when they end their speeches.
But here’s my question – How can we ask God to bless America when America is trying so desperately to remove God from everything?
Leaders have allowed God to be removed from schools, government buildings, street corners, military, money and the like.
I’ve been reading a book called, “The Harbinger.” While I’m not thrilled with a few things, the message is important. I did google to verify some information. I never knew our first president, George Washington was inaugurated in New York, and that Washington DC was not the capital at the time.
There are facts about 9/11 that are very interesting – the location, the building, the sycamore tree, the little church, the stone, the financial crisis that followed; things people should pay attention to and research. It helped me to understand why the terrorists keep saying – “See you in New York.”
When 9/11 happened, we resolved for a short time to turn our eyes back to the heavens, but that didn’t last long. There were drawings and songs written. Instead it seems this country jumped on the fast track to undoing everything that has been done by our forefathers.
We stand and ask why we are suffering? We wonder why people are so messed up. We wonder why kids are killing each other in schools. We wonder why people are killing each other. We question why terrorists are so focused on making America pay.
Israel was brought out of slavery and brought to the Promised Land two thousand plus years ago. But eventually they too turned their backs on God and replaced him with their own idols. They traded their love for God for love of self. And they paid the price and lost it all back then. But God never stopped loving them. Eventually the people rebuilt the temple and rededicated their lives to God. Something to consider.
Look at what is happening now. So many countries and terrorists would love to wipe Israel off the map. Have you looked at them on a paper map lately and seen just how big Israel is? It’s so small you can hardly find it without glasses; it’s a pin head compared to the U.S., surrounded by many who would love to eradicate it, and yet it still stands today.
America has been a blessed nation. We have heard time and time again how we are the richest nation on earth. Blessed did not come from our own making. But you can’t continue to remove the one blessing you and expect to be blessed. You can’t replace God centered living with self centered living. It doesn’t work.
People, we need to wake up and turn back to God. This country needs to turn back to God before we all experience what we never thought we would see in America.
2 Chronicles 7:14
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Prophets stood and prophesied what would happen if the people didn’t turn back to God. Some took them seriously, but a lot of them jeered and walked away. We have the same choice today – do we pay attention to all the signs, or do we continue to ignore them and do our own thing? It’s a choice we all have to make.
Please give this some serious thought. Research the area of 9/11 and the surrounding properties, the first inaugural address and it’s location. Research what happened to the Israelites at the hands of the Assyrians.
In His Service,
Jeanette Duby
