God’s Word Provides Directions
God’s Word provides directions on how to live, what to avoid, and how to grow spiritually. But do we always follow the directions we are given? Do we take the time to study the directions?
Years ago I had a dream about a little girl. She couldn’t have been more than four or five years old. She and I were standing in a stairwell together, and she wanted to go up. I told her to climb up three steps, and she would be fine. In my dream, I turned around to find her climbing three steps, alright, but they were actually three blocks that actually led her off the side of the stairwell entirely.
As she went to take that final step, her whole body started to fall, and I reached down and grabbed her by her dress, and pulled her to safety. I realized at that moment; I failed to properly teach her which three steps to take to go up.
It can be that way with the people we know and love.
Sometimes we don’t realize the few short words we speak can sometimes lead someone to do the wrong thing or take the wrong path even though our intentions were sincere.
Follow instructions
God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites in Deuteronomy 6 to follow the commands, decrees, and laws the Lord directed Moses to teach them. He also says they are to do the following:
“6:6 These words I am commanding you today must be kept in mind, 6:7 and you must teach them to your children and speak of them as you sit in your house, as you walk along the road, as you lie down, and as you get up. 6:8 You should tie them as a reminder on your forearm and fasten them as symbols on your forehead. 6:9 Inscribe them on the door frames of your houses and gates. “
God may have been instructing the Israelites through Moses to keep and follow his commands, but in case you hadn’t noticed His Word is timeless and applies to us today. We are to do the same thing.
Folks here’s a harsh reality
If we don’t teach our children the ways of the Lord, there are plenty of people who will teach them everything but the ways of the Lord. Do you understand what I am saying? Can I get an AMEN? The enemy wastes no time, my friend, no time.
What will you do today to train up your child or the children in and around your life about the ways of the Lord?
You see, it doesn’t matter how old you are or what your status is in life as far as married, single, widowed, or divorced. The enemy makes no distinction when it comes to the youth of today. He’ll try and teach them all. The enemy is purposeful in his desire to teach the youth of today his ways. I wonder if we are just as dedicated to teaching the ways of the Lord.
What will you do to make a difference?
Father, thank you for your timeless Word, the Bible. Thank you for the instructions on how to live life, what to do, and what not to do so that we can enjoy an abundant life. In your Son’s precious name, I pray, amen.
Blessings,
