Prayer – Let’s Talk About It – Part 2
Hello everyone! God has answered so many prayers today. Now you might be thinking, “Not mine, not yet anyway.” Whether we recognize it or not, God does answer prayer – yes, no, maybe, wait are the ones I am most familiar with.
Picking up where we left off
Let’s pick up where we left off with the Prayer devotional from Student Life camp. I just love their stuff, and that’s why I want to share it with you. It’s too good to just keep it to myself.
“We all have basic needs like food, water, and shelter. Many times it can be difficult to find the difference between these needs and the things we want.
Luke 11:3-4
When Jesus prays, “Give us each day our daily bread,” in verse three, Jesus is asking the Father to meet those needs each day.
In verse four, we see that in maintaining one’s relationship with God, there is a need for frequent confession of sin. When we ask for God’s forgiveness, he requires us also to forgive those who have wronged us.
Because God forgives us, we need to forgive those who have wronged us in some way or perhaps injured us.
When we ask for forgiveness, we should pray with sincerity, We should seek to turn from our sin once and for all – repent and avoid returning to those sins.
It’s a struggle, isn’t it, to repent and turn away from the sin that so easily entangles? I could go on and on about this, but I will wait till next time.
In the meantime
Who is it that you need to forgive in your own life?
What do you need to ask forgiveness for from our Heavenly Father?
Let that roll around in your minds for a while tonight. Ask God to reveal the answers to those questions to you.
Let’s pray
Father, as we digest what is being said, reveal to us who we need to forgive and what we need to ask forgiveness for now. Thank you for providing an example of what to pray and for knowing that we can come to you any time, anywhere.
You welcome us, and you are pleased when we forgive others, and when we ask for forgiveness. May our forgiveness and being forgiven bring you glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
