Forgiving Someone is a Choice

Forgiving Someone is a Choice

Do I have to?

I recently finished a compelling study on forgiveness and wanted to share something from the material:

“Forgiving someone else does not rest on our feelings but on a choice to act. In some cases, we show mercy by not requiring the other person to suffer the consequences of their actions toward us.

In other cases, they may need to make proper compensation.

We show grace by restoring the person to a place of friendship with us.”

Personally, I think it depends on the situation as to if we allow them back into our daily lives. Forgive for sure, so we do not find ourselves caught up in the bondage of unforgiveness, but I believe there are some cases where it is unsafe to allow them near.

What do you think? Do you allow that person back into your life?

Is it dependent on the offense? Have you forgiven that person?

I would love to know what you think about forgiveness.
