I was reading about a woman who had bleeding issues for 12 years. It’s a story in Luke 8.
Anyway, she made her way through the crowd and was able to touch the edge of Jesus’ cloak. Instantly she was healed.
In that moment, Jesus knew someone touched him, and he wanted to know who.
The woman eventually came forward and confessed she had reached for his garment.
Jesus wanted to know so the miracle could be made known, and here’s the other thing:
Her being healed of the bleeding now meant she was considered clean. The woman had been considered unclean for 12 years.
According to Leviticus 15, when a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening.
According to our story in Luke 8, no one could heal this woman. She bled for 12 years.
Can you imagine how lonely she must have been all those years, having been considered unclean? Her life has now been changed immensely and immediately.
She stepped out in faith despite the crowds, despite the weakness from years of bleeding, and believed Jesus could heal her if only she could touch his garment. Her faith healed her.
What are you struggling with that you need to be healed?
If there’s one thing I have learned over the years, our Heavenly Father sees and knows our struggles. My life is changed today because of all the Lord has done in my life. I trust he can do the same for you.
Run to the Lord no matter the struggle. He can handle it. Reach for the hem of his garment and be forever changed.
