The Attributes of God Almighty

There is so much happening, and honestly, some of it is frightening. 2020 has been quite a year! These days, I appreciate the Lord more than I have before. I don’t know how I would have made it through this last year. There are so many things about the Lord that bring me comfort, strength, peace, and love. My little brain cannot comprehend all the attributes of God.

During my quiet time, I decided to write down every adjective I could think of to describe God. I came up with a pretty decent list of his attributes. Check it out!

Gentle, loving, peaceful, calming, mighty, majestic, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, safe, secure, abounding, creator, creative, supplier, encourager, gracious, and merciful. The Lord is forgiving, a disciplinary, leader, provider, organizer, wise, patient, faithful, loving, kind, long-suffering, good, controlled, joyful, and happy.

He is honest, truthful, just, ruler, king, judge, Lord of Lords, King of Kings, the great I AM, Jehovah, Yahweh, the good shepherd, the light of the world, the true vine, the gardener, and the gate. God is righteous, holy, pure, perfect, a refuge, shelter, counselor, instructor, leader, present, listener, triumphant, flawless, blameless, exalted, avenger, and my rock.

And there’s more still.

He is glorious, a giver, Holy Father, king of glory, my shield, fortress, Alpha and Omega, beautiful, worthy of praise, honor, almighty, and full of unfailing love. I am sure I missed some.

That’s my God!

Oh, praise you, Lord, for all your attributes. No one else in all the earth will ever compare to you, Father. There is none like you; there never was, and there never will be because you alone are God. As the song says, “I could search the world and find no one else cuz, there is none like you.”

Oh Lord, as we get closer to the end of 2020, Father, I continue to pray, asking you Lord to intervene on behalf of the remnant in this country to protect and guide us in the days and months ahead. Lord, most importantly, I pray for your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Father, I pray for our leaders on both sides of the aisle. If there is one apparent thing, they struggle with sin just like the rest of us and need our prayers too.

Lord, I pray for all your children to return to you with their whole heart before it is too late. Many are still sleeping. Lord, I pray you would send someone to wake them.

Oh, Father, we do not know the day or the hour of your blessed return, but when I read your Word, I see the past judgments on the sinful nations and people. I have read the details of their sinfulness and why they were judged.  Father, how much longer will you tolerate all the sinfulness on earth?

How much longer?

How much longer will the sifting of wheat and tares continue?

Lord, please forgive me of my sinfulness and judgmental actions, slander, and words that fail to bring you glory. Father, I seek to serve you with all my heart to the best of my ability. There are days I do not feel worthy to serve, but please continue to use me to minister to others each day. Through the ministries you have given me, may you be glorified!

Father, thank you for seeing me and loving me the way you do. You’re a good, good Father! Thank you for all the blessings you have bestowed upon my life. I love you, Lord! In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

Can you think of anyone who comes remotely close to the Lord and who he is? I have never met anyone who comes close to the Lord. The attributes of God do not lie. In the beginning – God!

Blessings to you and your family. Pray for our nation and its leaders.
