Birth Pains Are Increasing

Was anyone surprised by the outcome over the weekend in the nation’s capital? Two sides are waring with each other. Given the election results pretty much split down the middle, it’s fair to say America is divided. Our country is divided, and I don’t foresee a time in the distant future when one side will agree with the other any time soon. My friend, the birth pains are increasing.

Jesus told the Pharisees in Matthew 12 that a kingdom divided against itself will be ruined. While we don’t officially consider America a kingdom, it can be assumed that the same outcome is imminent for our country.

Look at what the Apostle Paul tells us the church in Galatians 5:19-21, “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Pretty painful.

Birth pains are increasing here in the United States. For those who have had children, you know birth pains, aka contractions, start slightly uncomfortable, but the intensity grows as time passes. Each contraction feels worse than the last. My best and cleanest description of birth pains is that they are like the worst gas buildup you have ever experienced times a hundred.

Contractions begin to come faster and with greater intensity. The birth pains can no longer be ignored. The pain increases and is unmistakable. It’s all leading to a climax.

Fear of the unknown increases. Your thoughts and actions are all over the place. You can focus on nothing else because as the contractions increase, the pain increases, and the time between them decreases. Something has to give to get relief. It will not feel good until it is all over. Having experienced childbirth naturally with no drugs, the pain is beyond anything I can describe.

America is going through birth pains. Each day that passes, the pain and contractions increase and come quicker. As Inauguration Day draws closer, we see more and more division.

If it’s possible, and it is…

We see more evil, anger, rioting, dissension, shootings, stabbings, destruction, infighting, fires, hatred, backstabbing, division in families, bullying, cursing, branding, scare tactics, picketing, unreasonable demands, wickedness, satan worship, witchcraft, mediums, and focused hatred. They are leading to a climax moment, and I’m afraid the outcome will not be pretty.

But there is hope.

The Lord is not unaware of the current situation in America. While the enemy is busy causing major upheaval, God is not out of touch or grasping for a plan to move forward. He is way ahead of everyone.

As believers in Jesus Christ, we must trust the Lord and not fear. We must not take matters into our hands but allow the Lord to work in his time. It may feel like the Lord is not working, but Scripture says that a day to the Lord is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day. (2 Peter 3:8)

Ephesians 4:31, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”

Revenge is not ours to take.

Today, recognize that resentment, bitterness, and desire for revenge will only poison your own soul. Your hurt is real, but you must leave it with the Lord. He will bring justice in his way in his time.

As America continues to experience the ever-increasing birth pains, make every effort to draw closer to the Lord in these unprecedented times. Resting under the shadow of his wings is the safest place, and that gives me hope.

Father, we come to you today and ask you to do what only you can do, Lord. Father, I don’t know what that looks like for America because you see everything, so I will trust you as you move throughout our land and this world. Lord, please give me the strength to stand, patience to endure, and hope to cling to as we move another day closer to Jesus’ return. In his name, I pray, amen.
