The Confidence of Billy Graham

One day Billy Graham was asked, “Where is Heaven?”

He replied, “It’s where Jesus is, and I am going to him soon.”

As you may or may not know, Billy Graham passed away on February 21, 2018, at the age of 99.

A little dedication

His family wrote the following about his death:

“He departed this world into eternal life in heaven, prepared by the Lord Jesus Christ – the Savior of the world – whom he proclaimed for nearly 80 years.

He will be missed by our family, his colleagues, faithful ministry partners, and yes, many around the world.

But what joy he has to be welcomed by God the Father, and be reunited with my mother in the presence of Jesus who speaks peace to eternal souls.

What about you?

When you depart this world, do you know with certainty where you will spend eternity?

You can know this today. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

The One who comforts weary souls has given us this promise, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me…I go prepare a place for you…I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3)”

My thoughts

When I sit back and think of Billy Graham, I think of a guy who presented the gospel very plainly. He spoke to thousands, and I dare say maybe millions of people over the 80 years he ministered.

I have watched numerous crusades1 on television, the Billy Graham days, and I watched thousands of people attend and hear his message of hope. Billy Graham packed stadiums.

I noticed a few things about his crusades from the replays on television:

  1. No fancy cameras or lighting
  2. No bands
  3. No plush seating
  4. No dark lighting
  5. No decorative signage or coffee bars

Billy stood in front of thousands, bible in hand, and very simply shared the gospel of Christ.

Power in the Word

The gospel is so powerful by itself. Billy didn’t need anything extra, and yet thousands gave their lives to Christ each time.

Why do we require extra today?

Why do we have to add the five things shown above so people will come to church?

Have we cheapened the gospel message?

Have I cheapened the gospel message?

No frills

Do you know where you will be spending eternity after you die?

If you are not sure, and you would like to make a decision, check out the tab above titled, “Who is Jesus.” or drop me a line.

It is never too late to make a decision that will affect your future – eternity after you leave this place.

Romans 10:9 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
