In life, we are faced with many choices. Some choices are more serious than others. Depending on what you choose, it could be a matter of life or death. But you do have a choice. Choose wisely.
Today’s verse comes from Deuteronomy 6:13-15.
“Fear the Lord your God, serve him only, and take your oaths in his name. Do not follow other gods, the gods of the peoples around you; for the Lord, your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land.”
Do you recall reading in Matthew 4 the temptations Jesus faced?
Satan tempted Jesus in the desert three times, wanting Jesus’ full allegiance to him. Jesus quoted the first part of the verse above in response to one of the temptations. Jesus also quoted Scripture in response to the other two temptations from Satan. Satan left Jesus when he saw that he had failed.
We must be careful when choosing who we will follow. While lofty words and grandiose promises sound great, be careful. Make no mistake – Satan will tempt you too.
Make the right choice. Just because a million people say it is so, doesn’t mean they are right.
Fear the Lord and serve him only. The Lord God, maker of heaven and earth wants your full devotion. He is a jealous God. If you forget him, he will judge you accordingly. Make the right choice – choose the Lord!
Blessings!
