Wisdom – Listen And Accept Sound Advice

Welcome! I am so glad you have stopped by for a visit. Today we are looking at a passage from the book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 19:20, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end, you will be wise.”

I have another true story to share with you. If you recall, I had been telling you about my attempt to take down a very tall tree in the Arborist story. I was trying to ready my back yard for an above ground pool, and I didn’t want all the leaves from the gigantic trees. I also wanted to get rid of potential and dangerous hurricane exposure. Living in hurricane territory, those trees made me nervous every season.

I have always thought that if you planned, thought things through; nothing could upset the outcome. There would be no surprises.  However, when it came to this new above ground pool, nothing could be further from the truth. Little did I know the unexpected would happen, and of course, it happened to me.

Tomorrow, I’ll tell you the story of how my best-made plans came crashing down around me in a matter of fewer than 90 seconds. In the meantime, enjoy this passage from the Bible again as a reminder of what I failed to do when it came to this situation. Failing to listen to sound advice can be costly.

Proverbs 19:20, “Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end, you will be wise.”

Father, thank you for the Bible and the book of Proverbs. It’s such a great book, full of wise instruction, easy and applicable to life. Father, when I think back to the days of building the pool, I sure wish I had read the Bible and followed your instructions. Thank you, Lord, I can do that today, and for the lessons, I learned from back then. I love you and praise your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
