And So It begins….

Well folks, the new year is here!  The bright lights, the spectacles, the excitement – the ball dropped in New York City last night, and the crowds of people all gathered around to celebrate the ringing in of the new year!

As I watched the television last night, sitting alone, with two big dogs practically cuddled in my lap, because of the amateur fireworks, I thanked God for the past year of my life. So many things had happened this past year.  Of course who could forget the years prior? Surely, God has done some amazing things in my life and I am so grateful.

Sitting there watching the millions of people squeezed into the streets, confetti flying about, and cheers hoisted, I wondered what God would do in my life this year. What would 2014 bring?

Whatever He brings, I can trust in one thing – it will be good for me in one way or another even if I don’t think so at the time.

It brings to mind the verse from Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ”

Prosper, not harm, give, hope, and future all sound like great, welcoming words to me. They are words I can rest in, knowing the Lord is in control.

As you start out on your new year, ask God to give you these same things, and then trust that He will.

Father, I thank you for the past year and years prior. It’s when you came into my life and I focused on you, that I started to experience abundant joy and blessings. I look forward to more hope, more prosperity, more of your plan in my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Standing on His promises,

Jeanette Duby
