Today we continue on our journey through our little booklet from the North American Mission Board titled, “Beginning Steps: A Growth Guide For New Believers.” If you are joining us for the first time, welcome. If you are returning, thank you for coming back. As mentioned previously, I want to share the information from this little booklet that helped me so much when I first started seriously seeking the Lord. Since I can’t deliver this booklet to you personally, I thought this would be the next best way to share.
Are you ready?
Step 3 – Share Jesus with Others – Testimony
People love to share the good news. We announce marriages and births. When something good happens, we rush to tell someone. The more exciting the news, the harder it is to be silent.
A Christian has the most exciting news – the life-changing news of eternal life. It is natural for a Christian to want to share this good news. Think for a moment about the various people God used to bring you to the place where you were willing to receive Jesus.
Now God wants you to be a part of helping others come to know Jesus.
When Andrew met Jesus, his first inclination was to bring Simon to meet him. (John 1:40-42)
For a Christian, witnessing is not an option. Jesus commanded his followers to witness.
There are two things you should use when sharing Jesus:
- Your personal testimony
- Scripture.
1.) Your personal testimony is your own account of (a) Your life before receiving Jesus, (b) How you received Jesus, and (c) How Jesus makes your life more meaningful.
Brief testimony
Allow me to interject something here from a personal note: Before Jesus, I was lost. I had no direction and I did things I wasn’t proud of.
I received Jesus when I was eight years old having been raised in the Catholic church. However, I rededicated myself to him back in 2003. I was baptized by immersion in 2006. My life has never been the same since. I love the Lord with all my heart, soul, and mind.
My life is so much more complete than before. I’m excited to know Jesus and to walk with him daily. I want everyone to feel the joy that comes from knowing him and serving him.
Back to the booklet.
2.) Scripture is the second part of sharing Jesus with others.
The following verses will help you explain to unbelievers the good news of eternal life. Take time now to read them and underline them in your Bible.
- Romans 15:13
- Romans 1:16
- Romans 2:4
- Romans 3:23
- Romans 5:8
- Romans 6:23
- Romans 10:9 -13
