Do you remember Dunkin Donuts commercials?
Do you remember the Dunkin Donuts commercial from 20 plus years ago of the little round guy who dragged himself out of bed each morning at 5:30. I can still picture this guy hunched over, eyes half-opened, saying less than excitedly, ” It’s 5:30 am, time to make the donuts!” It’s time to make the donuts?”
Google the commercial
For those of you with no clue, it was a very famous commercial for Dunkin Donuts. I haven’t noticed a Dunkin Donuts commercial since then that has kept my attention.
But when I think of how the donut man appeared as he walked across the room, shoulders hunched over, walking very slow, looking like he hadn’t slept in weeks, he reassembled how we feel some days.
We can approach things in the same fashion, “it’s time to ………”
When we think we can’t go anymore, let me give you a little encouragement from Gods Word.
Take a look at Isaiah 40
Isaiah 40:28, “Do you not know?”Have you not heard? The Lord is an eternal God, the creator of the whole earth. He does not get tired or weary; there is no limit to his wisdom.40:29 He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy. 40:30 Even youths get tired and weary; even strong young men clumsily stumble.40:31 But those who wait for the Lord’s help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles’ wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired.”
Sound familiar?
Some of you will recognize the lyrics of a favorite song with a little boy who reads the bible at the end. Isn’t that an incredible promise for you to hold onto today?
I wish life were that easy
Listen, life isn’t as easy as getting up and making donuts. I’m sure some of us wouldn’t mind trading in our current status for a donut hole but take heart, we have more than flour and sugar in our midst. We have the glue that keeps it all together and forms us into a beautiful creation. We have the Lord our God who gives strength to the tired and power to those who are weak.
Stay steadfast
Stay steadfast loved ones and let’s ask God together to be with us today.
Let’s pray
Father God, we thank you that you are our source of strength and for those of us who haven’t thought of you for that, I pray we look to you now. Lord help us to draw from your power, your strength when we are in those moments of our day wondering how we will get through the next five minutes.
We thank you for your provisions in our lives. And of course Lord, some us thank you for donuts. What a beautiful creation generated from essential food items created long ago from the ground. Lord help those that make them figure out a way to make them less fattening, but just as good. Thanks, Lord. In your Son’s name, I pray, Amen.
Some may ask, how can you pray like that?
Answer – When God is your best friend, you can be yourself. God has a sense of humor too you know. 🙂
Smile, take heart, you’re not alone!
I hear a donut calling my name,
