Were you able to answer the question from yesterday? Lets’ revisit the question – “Why was fellowship important to this group?”
“Did you know that as a believer you make up the body of Christ? Read 1 Corinthians 12:27.
Chapter 12 in 1 Corinthians talks about the body of Christ that is made up of those who are believers. In Ephesians 5:23 we see the body of Christ mentioned and are clearly told that this body is the church. As we read these passages and think about the fellowship, we come to understand that without it, the body of Christ, or the Church, cannot function properly.
1 Corinthians 12 compares our physical bodies to the spiritual body of Christ. Both of these are made up of different parts, each having a distinct purpose. If you are a believer, you are part of this body of Christ and you have a specific function. This means you have been wired a certain way and have a specific purpose that is different than other believers.
Fellowship takes place when we surround ourselves with other parts of this body of Christ so that we can work together to help grow and serve. If we do not live in fellowship with others, our growth will be limited. Let’s devote ourselves to fellowship and community with others.”
