Fruit Of The Spirit – 8 – Galatians 5:25 – Decide

Welcome. If this is your first time here, I thank you for deciding to join me. You could be a thousand other places, but you came here. So let’s finish this up, shall we? Let’s go back to Galatians 5:25, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit.”

Wait, wait, wait. I can’t get a few lines of a song out of my head, “I have decided to follow Jesus… I have decided to follow Jesus….., I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back…. no turning back.”

I just had to throw that in there.

Back to the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness. These are all good things, wouldn’t you agree? They are all positive things.

We have spent many days looking at these and our sins and what we should do with them. The great thing about this is God is interested in every part of your life. Did you know that? He wants to be a part of your life in every way.

As we’re living by the Holy Spirit, we need to be submitting every aspect of our lives to God. What does that mean exactly?

Let’s think about these areas of our lives for a moment.

We are basically comprised of four basic areas – Spiritual, Mental, Emotional, and Physical. Take these one step further, and you also have vocational, social, and intellectual.

God is interested in ALL those areas of your life. He does not look at you and decide your emotional state is too challenging for Him. He doesn’t decide one day; you are too intellectual for Him. He wants to be a part of all areas of your life. If we have a loving God who wants to be a part of our lives, why do we spend so much time and effort trying to keep Him out?

Go back to the advocate in our corner – God is our biggest fan. He loves us when no one else does.

Why do people compromise on this and allow others to lead them down the wrong paths? As the verse above states, if we live by the Spirit, let us also behave.

When we asked Jesus to live in our hearts, we chose to follow Him. With that comes the Holy Spirit and a source to a new life. Keep in step with his leading, not some joe schmoe in the newspapers or on television.

Let’s pray

Lord, with each lesson, it becomes more and more apparent what we should do. With each lesson, it becomes more and more apparent to me. I need you in my life. I couldn’t live this life without you, Lord. I just couldn’t. I’m thankful I don’t have to. If someone reading this today doesn’t know you, Lord, or doesn’t know where to begin, may the Spirit move them to reply and ask for direction. If someone reading this today needs prayer, may they be bold and reply. Thanks, Lord, you’re number one in my book! In your sons’ name, I pray, Amen.

“I have decided to follow Jesus… I have decided to follow Jesus….., I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back…. no turning back.”
