God Can Change You If You Let Him
When I was a kid, my parents bought a stripped out gray panel van. This vehicle came with nothing in the back. The only two seats were in the front. My dad wanted to convert this van into a small camper so we could take family trips in the summer. Somehow all five us were going to fit comfortably inside this van.
My uncle and father converted the inside by installing custom-built seats and a table which transformed into a bed. I still remember the fabric. It was a mixture of gray, black, and white plaid. They installed seating for us kids for road trips and storage for all the luggage. Back then, you didn’t have to worry about seat belts. One could lay down with a pillow and blanket and relax on long trips. It’s hard to do that today. I’m not even sure they still sell panel vans.
By the time they were done, the inside of this plain old panel van had looked fabulous and was ready for camping. We got a lot of use out of our camper van. Who would have thought they would have been able to make something so beautiful out of something so dull.
God can transform lives.
It’s the same thing with us when God gets a hold of us. We’re plain, nothing special to look at. Sometimes we are damaged, dented, or bruised when God gets a hold of us. God converts us into a beautiful masterpiece, useful, and beautiful again. In those beautiful moments, we bring Him glory.
Please don’t think that you are so damaged God can’t use you. Don’t think because you have done horrible things that God can’t use you. I look at my life, and I can vouch for God when I say He will use anyone for His purposes. He is using me for His purpose, and I thought I was beyond repair.
The Lord can do wondrous things.
The Lord can do wondrous things with all of us if we allow Him to. Twenty years ago, I was like a plain old panel van, nothing spectacular, but God changed my life, and I couldn’t be happier for the changes He has done in me that have affected my life. I’m not trying to say I am spectacular, but I am saying God has done amazing work with this person I could have never done on my own.
If you’re feeling like a plain old panel van or you are feeling dented and bruised, pray and ask our heavenly Father to do a wondrous work in your life. God hears our prayers and longs to mold us and shape us into new creations. We have to be willing to allow Him to change us from the inside out, just like a panel van.
Thank you, Lord, for your mighty work in my life. I claim your promises today. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
