A landscape of some kind surrounds my home. And although it’s a chore to keep up, in most cases to stay ahead of, it does bring some beautiful reminders of God’s creation. The intricate work displayed on each leaf or blossom is a beautiful reminder that our God is the designer every day. It also tells me he is very patient, sensitive, and pays great attention to detail.
There is one area of bushes in particular that I love. Every day, on cue, never missing a beat, these purples flowers display themselves as if they were planted fresh that morning. And each afternoon, they disappear, wilted by the sun’s rays. After doing some research online, I have discovered their name is Morning Glory. How wonderful is that?
It amazes me that such a plant can produce a new flower every day without any human intervention. I don’t water them; I don’t fertilize them, yet each day, their purple blossoms are just as pretty as the day before. And what’s more meaningful to me is their color – purple.
They remind me of Jesus. Each day I awake, I can start again, to start fresh as the flowers. Each day, I am reminded that Jesus gives me another opportunity to love him, to serve him, to get it right – to make a difference in a world going down the wrong path. And each day, I am reminded how much Jesus loves me.
Scripture
Jeremiah 31:3-4 says this, “The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt., O virgin Israel… Again you will take up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful.”
Let me ask you a question today. Are you joyful? Are you dancing with tambourines because of the love the Lord God has for you?
Let’s pray.
Lord, thank you for loving me despite myself sometimes. The great thing about you, God, is every day I get a chance to get it right, I get a chance to do it better, I get a chance to draw closer to you. I want to be like those flowers that are beautiful in your sight every single day. Father, forgive me of my sins and cleanse me anew. In Jesus’ name, I pray all these things, amen.
In His Service
