The Armor of God – The Helmet of Salvation

Are we having fun yet? If you are joining me for the first time, we have been looking at the Armor of God. We have had fun looking at each piece and reviewing notes from a sermon series I listened to online months ago. I gathered some great information from the sermon series and tied it to Scriptures and some Bible footnotes. We’re now onto the next piece of the armor – the helmet of salvation.

The helmet of salvation protects our minds. Salvation was meant to implement a whole new way of thinking. It gives us comprehensive coverage – everything you need to remain safeguarded against the attacks of the enemy.

Our salvation is our helmet, and we have to use it and wear it. Salvation is about your identity. It’s who you are in Christ. This is what protects the mind. Our minds are renewed through the Word of God.

Let’s look at the notes I took from the online sermon I watched on the armor of God – the helmet of salvation.

“Helmet of salvation – sanity.

Resist delusion.

The effect of salvation on your mind – helps us know how to think in the midst of the battle.

Some things to see in the battle:

Have to know the place of your stance – your stand. Four times in the feature passages from Ephesians 6:12-18,  the Apostle Paul says to stand. When discouragement sets in, we tend to sit down and start questioning God – is it true? Are you there, God? Why am I going through this?

The devil wants to take you from where you’re standing and sideline you so that you don’t find rest. Notice stand is an active position.

In what area of the armor are you sitting?

Are you even wearing the armor?”

We are battling a real enemy, and when facing an enemy, it is advisable to put on the armor – in this case, the armor of God. Protect your mind by wearing the helmet of salvation. Don’t forget to wear the other pieces of armor – the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and the shoes of peace. All are required to stand your ground in the battles we face against the enemy.

Take heart; the Lord is with you.

Blessings.
