I like to walk the neighborhood every day after work. By this time, the sun is heading toward sunset. The sky is most beautiful when the sun drops behind the trees. All you can see are the rays bouncing off the clouds. Colors of blue mixed with rays of the setting sun color the sky with fiery orange and yellow rays of light. Some evenings the canvas of the sky is colored in various shades of pink and blue. The Creator is someone to behold.
Our verse of the day comes from Psalm 8:1-9.
“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory
in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants, you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon, and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?
You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
How wonderful!
Oh, how wonderful and beautiful are the words of the psalmist. I love this psalm because it reminds me of when I used to sing in the choir. The first and last verses are words to a song we used to sing in church. I will spare you my novice soprano voice. I still can’t believe I used to sing with sopranos.
Glory to the creator for all he has done. The Lord is over his people. The Redeemer of Israel is the Creator! How wonderful is his name in all the earth?
I stand amazed when I walk around my neighborhood at creation. As I watch birds soar high in the sky, I thank my heavenly Father. If he can provide for the birds, surely he can provide for me. Who am I that God would be mindful of me or that he would care for me?
Creation speaks of a creator.
Next time you venture outside, stop and look around. Take notice of the various flowers lining the gardens or the tall trees swaying in the breeze. Lookup for birds in the air. Listen for their calling and pay specific attention to the various sounds. Our creator spared no expense when he created.
The Lord loves you and me. Who are we that he would be mindful of us? Oh Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.
Blessings!
