Unknown. I don’t like not knowing things. It makes life easier to navigate when I know what’s coming up. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not someone who plans months in advance. I pack my suitcase half an hour before leaving on a long trip. Today though, we’re talking about the unknown hour.
The verse of the day comes from Matthew 24:36.
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
The disciples wanted to know when the end of the age was coming and what would be the sign of Jesus’ coming? After a lengthy discourse, Jesus tells them no one knows, not the angels, not him, only God.
It is tempting to several people these days to predict when Jesus will return. But in Jesus’ own words, no one knows the day or the hour, not even him.
Be careful who you listen to. Those that prophesy about a certain date on the calendar for the end of the world or Christ’s return do not know.
There have been lots of prophetic videos of late on YouTube. What strikes me about those predictions is if Jesus doesn’t know, what makes some random guy or girl more important that God would tell them over Jesus?
Someone might ask how it is Jesus doesn’t know his own coming? At the time he spoke to the disciples, he had both a human and divine nature. Remember, Jesus got tired; he ate food, he walked everywhere, and was tempted. For him to have known or to make known the time of his coming would have damaged the kingdom’s work.
How?
If you and I knew the exact date, how would we live? What would we do while we wait for him to come back? The disciples were no different. If he would have told them a date, they could have lived their lives differently or given up on the mission at hand. Jesus chose not to access this knowledge and disclose it. It was left unknown.
Stay alert and be ready. Read God’s Word for yourself, so you know the truth and be looking up. Pay close attention to everything happening not just here in the USA but around the world. A lot is going on. I believe Bible Prophecy is being played out before our eyes.
I will say this with certainty, and I don’t believe I am alone in this thought – we are another day closer to the Lord’s return. Amen!
What day? Only God knows.
Blessings!
