A Wolf is Still a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Cleverly Disguised as a Wolf

A wolf is still a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Dress him up however and whatever way you want, and you still get a wolf. There’s no escaping the fact.

Today, we are surrounded by many wolves who appear to be sheep. Wolves, cleverly disguised as sheep roam around and step in and out of our lives as if they are innocent, intending no harm.

But if you have been paying attention, you will notice that those same wolves have in fact caused lots of harm. They have inflicted many injuries and continue to do so today.

How can we know for sure?

How can we know whether a sheep is really a sheep or a cleverly disguised wolf?

What does God’s Word say?

The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”

Wolf or lion, the metaphorical meaning is the same – both are looking to hurt you, deceive you and take you down. Both long to inflict pain and drive a wedge between you and Jesus.

So how do we prevent such attacks?

  1. Stay near to God
  2. Read His Word
  3. Pray without ceasing
  4. Don’t get caught up in all the gossip
  5. Know the truth

Lastly, put on the full armor of God as stated in Ephesians 6:11 and following. I’ve always said that you don’t go to battle without weapons, armor and a plan. You don’t just walk out into the middle of the desert and proclaim you have arrived as if you just landed on a beautiful beach for vacation.

No, you must put on the full armor for protection against the schemes, weapons and attacks of the enemy. You must suit up to defeat evil.

The problem

Many of us don’t suit up properly if at all and we become vulnerable to the attacks. We leave ourselves wide open and the enemy knows our weak spots. He like an enemy in the battlefield aims his weapons directly at our weak areas. Then we wonder why we are injured.

To prevent such attacks, refer back to the list above. Evil cannot overcome the Lord. The Lord will fight for you if you ask. Don’t be deceived by a cleverly disguised wolf.

Let’s pray

Lord, I pray that we are able to recognize a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I pray we suit up properly each day against the schemes of the enemy and that we recognize those schemes.  Thank you Lord and it’s in Jesus name I pray, amen.

Now go suit up!
