Powerful People Are Not The Answer
In a world full of powerful people, it’s easy to get caught up in all the fray of an election season. Honestly, there are so many things I could write about during this election season, but few things I feel I should.
Why?
Because I wouldn’t make 100% of the people happy, moreover, there will always be two sides to every issue as long as we are on this earth. The nature of human beings being opposed to each other goes back to Bible times.
People have their own opinions and thoughts about how things should be. Thousands of years gone by haven’t changed that process. What do I do? I rely on the Scriptures as my guide. Hence, I put more confidence in the Lord for how things ought to be because the Lord has my best interest at heart – not powerful people.
I was doing my quiet time the other day and came across this scripture that was so telling of the current climate we find ourselves. Check it out!
Psalm 146 (NLT)
“3Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel[a] as their helper,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.
6 He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
7 He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry.
The Lord frees the prisoners.
8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
9 The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
10 The Lord will reign forever.
He will be your God, O Jerusalem,[b] throughout the generations.”
The Bible doesn’t say powerful people, or the Senate, Congress, the President, Democratic National Convention, Republican National Committee, candidates or their surrogates, and followers. It doesn’t say foreign countries will do all those things for us. Nope! The Bible says there’s only one – The Lord! He will be your God! Praise the Lord!
So, why do we put such weight and confidence in temporary people?
In Him, I put my hope and trust. I hope you do too.
