Good morning everyone. How are you feeling today? Chipper? Upbeat? Dragging? Still tired? Come on, folks, up and at ’em! Greet this new day with a smile on your face, happiness in your heart, for God sits on the throne, and He is in control! Amen? Amen! Praise the Lord!
Let’s go back
Back to Colossians 1, and let’s look at verse 18 today for more good news. “And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”
What’s Paul referring to when he says he was the firstborn? Jesus rose from the dead, and his resurrection proves he has lordship over the material world. Christ Jesus holds this position, and because he is spiritually supreme in the universe, we should give him first place in our lives, including our thoughts and our activities.
Everyone who trusts in Christ Jesus will also defeat death and rise again to live eternally with him. That, my friends, is good news. That is far greater than a winning lotto ticket or a $5 coupon from Publix and Target combined! Do you want to know something else that is awesome?
Now the hard part
Do you trust Him? Do you trust Jesus? Do you place Him first and foremost in your thoughts and activities? Do you ask yourself what he would do in any given situation? I could ask a lot more of these questions, but I have a feeling you’re already doing that yourself. I’ll leave you with your thoughts.
Father, thank you for sending your son, Jesus, to die on the cross for me. Lord, I’m even more thankful he rose from the dead, resurrected, and is seated on the throne. Father, I am also thankful I can have a relationship with Jesus that goes deeper than anything I have ever known. I continue to ask for protection, for wisdom, for your grace, and your mercy. Thanks, God for the ultimate plan in your Son, Jesus. In his name, I pray, Amen.
