“Read it for yourself.” Have you ever heard anyone say that? I’ve heard that a lot lately. Given how fast everything is changing, it is a good idea for each of us to examine the situation and determine ourselves what’s true and what’s false.
Today’s verse of the day comes from Acts 17:11.
“Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
Scripture says they received the message and examined it to see if what was being said by Paul was true. In other words, they didn’t take his word for it. They judged Paul’s message by the standard of Scripture rather than their perceived prejudices.
The other point I want to make is they received the message with great eagerness. They had an appetite for learning.
Do you have an appetite and an eagerness to learn Scripture? Do you read or examine the Bible with great excitement?
I believe now, more than ever, we need to be reading God’s Word. This world is changing so quickly, and there are lots of things happening all over the world. The time is drawing nearer for Jesus’ return, and each of us needs to be ready.
Scripture will help reassure you, guide you, and give you insight into what is happening in our world. Check it out for yourself.
Blessings!
