What Is Your Purpose? – Continued – Proverbs 11:28

Good morning one and all. “It’s a great day to be alive. I know the sun is still shining when I close my eyes. There are some hard times in the neighborhood, but why can’t every day be just this good?”

I’ve been spending so much time lately reviewing book websites and coming across famous Christian authors, and of course, one of the ones that stood out to me was Rick Warren. He penned “The Purpose Driven Life,” a book that has sold over 6 million copies for those who don’t know.

In his book, he asks the question which I posed to you yesterday. “What on earth am I here for?”

Let’s follow that with this verse from the Bible. “A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.”  Proverbs 11:28

I guess the question this morning to think about is this – What are you – a stump or a flourishing tree?

There’s a big difference between the two for sure, so you’ll want to think long and hard about that one. I guess if you are a stump, your thinking time will be short.  😉

Jeremiah 17:7-8, “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord…They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit.”

Lord, you created each one of us for a purpose, for a reason. We are not an accident; we are not a mistake; we were created by you and in your image. You have plans for us. As we set out to seek what those are, some for the first time, open our eyes, Lord. Would you please help us to lift our hearts and minds to you? In your sons’ name, I pray, Amen.

In His Service
