The Good News Is Not What You Think It Is

Are you looking for some good news? We all are these days. Good news is hard to come by. With so many choices to pick from on how we receive information, one would think we would see multiple stories of good news and heartwarming stories that make us smile and remind us of an easier time. Instead, we get hammered hourly with bad news – murders, negativity, lies, death, personal attacks, and on and on. We’re told bad news sells better. Really?

Can we see some good news? Is nothing good happening in the world today?

Based on what we see and hear, one wouldn’t know unless it happens to us or someone we know.

Don’t dismay! I have some good news, and it’s the best news ever. It’s simple yet profound.

Not your typical news story

Jesus Christ is the good news! It’s excellent news for those who are perishing every day.

John 3:16-17 says,

“16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

My friend, we are not promised tomorrow. If we take a good honest look at the world today, we see many concerning things. Some are scary and quite unsettling.

Here’s something to consider.

John 14:1, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in me also. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

I look around the world at all the people who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. That is excellent news!

Isn’t it interesting that so many people, young and old, men, women, children, weak, strong, rich, poor, people from all nations, have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior?

How could all those people be wrong about the same thing?

I know it’s scary, and you might think you have done too many things for God to accept you now. But the good news is Jesus paid the price for everyone, no matter who they are or what they have done.

We are all born with a desire to know something greater deep down inside. Something inside us cannot be satisfied with everything the world offers. That desire is only satisfied when we ask Jesus to come into our heart, and the Holy Spirit takes up residence in us.

That longing you have been feeling for something bigger than you have been able to fill all your life is the inner desire for something you cannot produce on your own. Electronics, social media, people, food, or addictions cannot fill the longing.

Only Jesus can fill that space in your heart. Jesus is the good news!

Blessings!
