Verse Of The Day – First And Last

“I wanna be first!” as the child pushes their way to the front of the line. Children do this when they get excited. Some adults do it to get what they want or get a position in line. Today, let’s look at the first and last place from a different perspective.

Our verse of the day comes from Revelation 1:17-18.

“When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

The Apostle John writes that he saw him, the glorified Christ. Immediately Jesus tells him not to be afraid.

Jesus refers to his resurrection life and asserts his sovereignty over death and Hades. He holds the keys.

Let us not forget that Jesus Christ is the First and the Last. With everything happening in today’s world, we must keep our focus on Jesus Christ. None of what is happening is a surprise to the Lord. Our hope should be in him because anything else and anyone else will eventually disappoint.

I know it’s hard to hang on, but you must till the very end. Keep looking up!

Blessings!
