When I was teaching at Student Life Camp last month, a specific question came to mind that I asked my class:
What direction are you headed, and what direction are you leading your best friend? What direction is your best friend leading you?
Think about your best friend for a moment. Do you have that person pictured in your mind? You do? Great!
Now ask yourself this question – What direction are you leading them?
Strange question I know, but a valid one when you think about it.
Are you leading your best friend in the right direction, down the right path, or are you leading them in the wrong direction, down the wrong path?
Whether we realize it or not, we tend to lead our best friends in a certain direction by the advice we give, the invitations we extend, the opinions we express, and the same likes and dislikes.
Here’s an even harder question when it comes to your best friend: Are you leading your best friend to Jesus Christ? Are you pointing them in His direction?
And more importantly – is Jesus Christ your best friend?
Consider today who your best friend is. What direction are they heading. Ask yourself if your best friend is leading you towards Jesus Christ or away from Him.
At the end of the day, we don’t want to follow folks who are going away from Jesus. We want to follow folks who are headed towards Him.
Jesus Christ wants to be everyone’s best friend. He loves us that much, so much so, He died on the cross for you and me. (John 3:16)
Hoping Jesus is your best friend,
