Reflection

Let’s continue by looking at the Rule of 5 by John Maxwell. It’s time for reflections.

The last time we were together, we looked at #1 – Every day, learn, be intentional and be teachable.

Tonight, let’s look at #2 – Reflection

John Maxwell says the following:

“Every day, I reflect. Reflection turns experience into insight.”

Evaluated experiences have everything to do with growth. Help people become more of what they are experiencing. Gain insight from experiences.

You have to know who you are and what you want.

A sustained thinker will have a huge return.

Stay with something long enough to make it something.

You have to know your limitations before you can work on them.

What do people see in me? How do they see me?

You can’t grow in the areas you don’t know.

Every day, reflect.”

Take time to get into God’s Word and reflect on it. What did you learn, and what can you apply to your life today?

What was the takeaway from your reading?

Ask questions of the text like, “Are there any promises for me?” Is there a sin I should avoid? Does the text share an example I need to follow? What does the text say about God’s love for me?”

When reading the Bible, read the Scripture passage a few times. Jot down some notes and thoughts about the passage that will help you reflect on the truths of God’s word.

Reflect on the word of God. Don’t read the Bible like a best-selling novel by a famous author. The Bible is God’s words to you. Read it seriously and read it daily.

Until next time, stay focused and know you are loved!
